Kashi “Go Lean: Malted Cocolate Crisp Protein Bar

November 9, 2008 by BarsAreFood

Kashi’s attempt at protein bars isn’t bad, at least when considering their Malted Chocolate Crisp variety.  This one, which is part of their “Chewy” line, features 13g of protein and 6g of fiber in that’s made with all natural ingredients.  The bar is indeed chewy, almost a bit too much so, requiring a strong jaw to eat your way through this bar.  Flavor isn’t bad, with a light chocolate malted flavor that’s more chocolate than malted.  Otherwise, the bar has a grain like flavor (Kashi’s trademark) which, if nothing else, makes you feel like you’re eating real food as opposed to who knows what  that goes into many of today’s protein bars.  Packaging looks and feels like a protein bar, but we dislike the yellow color that makes the front text difficult to read.  Overall, not the most potent protein bar on the market, but good taste and an ingredient list that you can actually read are huge pluses for this bar.
