Raw Organic Food Bar: Chocolatey Chocolate Chip

October 5, 2008 by BarsAreFood

Fans of both the raw AND the cooked will find something to enjoy in this buttery, raisin-y, kind of chunky agglomeration of sticky stuff, although they probably won’t find enough chocolate to satisfy a craving. The mix of cashew butter, dates, organic nectar and brown rice protein give the bar a surprisingly complex, almost savory body, although not a particularly chocolate-y one. The chocolate chips in the mix are nice, but there aren’t enough of them to give the consumer that nice hit of flavor one might find in a box of Raisinettes. Nevertheless, it’s a highly consumable bar, and one that scores high on the virtue index with its lack of refined sugar, and mix of raw quinoa and other – obviously super nutritious – super-sprouts. Despite the good taste, however, the wrapper does this product no service; with its orange, yellow and brown hues and uninspiring brand name, it’s got all of the personality of an NPR fund drive.
