Featuring 14g of protein and only 5g of sugar, the French Vanilla Crème bar from Power Crunch is a very enjoyable and nourishing bar. Inside the wrapper, the 1.4 ounce bar is light and crisp, with a wafer bar style bar that has a creamy layers in the middle. There’s also a light vanilla coating around the bar itself, which adds a nice note to the bar’s finish. Functionally, the bar features a proprietary form of dietary protein, Proto Whey, which the manufacturer claims is designed specifically for the human metabolism. Regardless, the bar’s 14g of protein is sure to have appeal to certain consumers. Packaging is clean, but feels slightly devoid of its own identity, with stock imagery and standard type treatment used for all elements of the design. Further highlighting the “Proto Whey” logo might be a good starting point. Otherwise, figuring out some way to make the package memorable or fun would help this bar a lot. Overall, really enjoyable flavor and function, but needs some work on the packaging.

What kind of review is this? Why would I care about the packaging….seriously….who cares. Tell me about the taste….no one buys a protein or energy bar based on the packaging….its about taste, taste, taste…if you ar going to write reviews…stick with what matters the most….
Packaging greatly influence first time buyers. This site is not only written for consumers, but also for retailers. If I were a retailer, I would want information on which bars are likely to be tried. After all, you don’t know how good a bar is going to be until you try it. If something is in an unappealing package, it lessens the odds of it being tried. In short, packaging does matter, and that is why we discuss it in our reviews.
Of course packaging matters….but you obviously don’t know what the 3 major selling points for purchasing bars are in the minds of consumers…..#1, taste, #2, taste, #3, taste…..1st time buyers aren’t what drives the 4.5billion dollar bar category…repeat buyers are. Packaging only gets trial and trust me…most bars I have tried….they are surviving on 1st time users….Power Crunch is one of the top selling bars in H&F….bodybuilding.com, vitamin shoppe, GNC…all list it as one of their top 5 selling bars…you guys should stick to consumer based reviews and leave the trade-based opinions to yourself
Thanks for the input, but you are alone in that belief. Packaging is a very important part of the decision process in most CPG categories. Taste is important, but you are completely missing other important factors (price & availability, for example). Clif Bar and the other brands that dominate your category prove the point. Instead of being bitter, you should learn from these other more successful companies.
